About Onam Festival

Onam is very popular and largest festival in the state of Kerala. Onam is celebrated in the starting of the month of Chingam, this is the 1st month of Malayalam Calendar. The celebration on Onam is begin eithin a half-month of the Malayalam New Year and continue for ten days.These ten days the onam Carnival was celebrated from four to ten days. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam.

Onam Festival Date 2016

Onam is celebrated on 14th September. As you know that Onam is the biggest Hindu festival, which is celebrated in Kerala, India. Onam is the main festival of Kerala. The Onam holidays started on the 4 days starting from Onam Eve to the 3rd Onam Day.

Ten Days Of Onam

There are 10 days of Onam festival is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. While you visit Kerala it seems to be involved in festival activities. There are two days of Onam festival which is most important, the first and the tenth day of the Onam Festival. These are the ten days of Onam Festival are: –
